Project update 30 January 2025
We cancelled our work on Sunday 19 January due to the hot weather which has impacted the schedule of works. We now also need to reschedule to work from 2 February due to the weather forecast.
We will now continue our work on Sunday 9 February, and the second phase will occur on Sunday 16 February 2025. The power outages will also be on these dates, and we have notified those affected.
Notification of Works
Northgate Street and Unley Road Unley Park
December 2024 - February 2025
What we're doing
We will be replacing a stobie pole located on the footpath bordering 6 Northgate Street Unley. We will also be installing a new junction pit on Unley Road and replacing the low voltage underground cable from Northgate Street under Unley Road.
Excavation and civil works will begin Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 December 2024 to install the Stobie pole footing which will impact the Eastern end of Northgate Street, and between 299 and 346 Unley Road in preparation for the junction pit and cable replacement.
We will reinstate footpaths to Council standards as soon as possible following the completion of the work, we aim to have this completed within the first few months of 2025.
Sunday 19 January 2025 - now scheduled for Sunday 9 February 2025
We will replace the Stobie pole on the boundary of 6 Northgate Street and install a pole-mounted transformer to ensure we continue meeting local electricity demand. The new Stobie pole will be installed roughly one meter west of the current Stobie pole location.
Sunday 2 February 2025 - now scheduled for Sunday 16 February 2025
We will install a new junction pit. The pit will be located underground and will be flush with the footpath at the Southern boundary of 299 Unley Road. We will replace the underground low voltage cable across Unley Road which will run roughly 102m along Northgate Street and across Unley Road connecting to the newly installed junction pit.
How this affects you:
The Sunday works are intended to minimise the local disruption to the local community. Trenching along Northgate Street and Unley road will cause noise and dust. For the safety of our crews and pedestrians there will be reduced speeds limits and potential lane closures beginning Tuesday 17 December 2024.
We will let customers when we need their help to keep the footpath clear of vehicles, so we have clear access for our work, and to avoid potential damage to vehicles. We will use road plates so locals can continue to access their driveways.
Power outages
Some customers will experience two power outages during these works; 19 January and 2 February 2025. If your property is affected by these outages, we will send SMS/ emails to subscribed customers typically two weeks in advance. We post cards to non-subscribed customers however there may be delays with the postal service.
If you do not already receive free notifications about your power, you can subscribe using the QR code below, via our website, or call us for assistance. You need the National Meter Identifier (NMI) from your electricity bill to subscribe.

Nuisance
There will be dust, vibration and noise from our work, and the operation of heavy machinery and vehicles such as cranes, however our crews will minimise these disruptions as much as possible.

We apologise for any inconvenience you may experience and thank you in advance for your patience during this work.
