Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Update Guide

Effective date: August 12th 2024

Overview: Starting August 12th, SA Power Networks is introducing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to enhance portal security. You will be required to update your security settings at your next login from this date.

Updating your account:

  1. Re-register: You will need to re-register your account by clicking on the re-register link (highlighted below).
  2. Account continuity: Ensure you use the same email address to retain visibility of your previous applications.
  3. New password: Your new password will need to be 12 characters or more and contain at least 1 uppercase (A-Z) and 1 lowercase (a-z) letter.
  4. MFA options: For optimal security, we recommend using an Authenticator app for MFA. Alternatively, SMS verification is available.

Why update? MFA adds an extra layer of security, ensuring that your account is accessible only to you, even if someone else knows your password. Read More>>

Next steps: You don’t need to do anything now. You will need to re-register your account next time you log in after August 12th and will see the new logon screen below. Setting up your new account with MFA is quick and should take less than three minutes.

Why Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

At SA Power Networks, we are committed to ensuring the highest level of security and privacy for our customers and partners. As part of this commitment, we are implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on all our customer-facing portals. This move is in line with the recommendations from the Critical Infrastructure Centre, which advocates for robust security measures to protect critical infrastructure services.

MFA is a security measure that requires users to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource such as an application, online account, or a VPN. This significantly reduces the risk of a potential cyber attack or data breach. By implementing MFA, we are adding an extra layer of protection to your data, ensuring that only authorised individuals have access to the information they need.

We understand that as electricians, solar installers, and other external partners, you rely on our systems to conduct your business efficiently. We assure you that this change is designed to protect your information and the integrity of our systems, without causing any significant disruption to your work. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work together to enhance the security of our shared digital environment.
