SA Power Networks is set to expand its existing online portal experience to include a number of minor connection services

Submit, view and track: A better online experience for connection services

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving service delivery, SA Power Networks is excited to announce an expansion of our online portal services, designed to streamline your connection service requests. Our aim is to provide you with an all-in-one, modern online experience for submitting, viewing, and tracking your job requests with ease.

What this means

Today, the REX portal on our website is used to submit New Service Provisions, Alterations and Enquiry to Quote. For Temporary Disconnections and Reconnections, Unmetered Supplies, Network Access Permits and a number of others, there are basic web forms in various locations on our website.

In the future, an applicant will gain access on their device of choice (mobile or desktop) to submit a number of requests in one location (through the portal). You’ll be able to track a job across the delivery of the work, view communications to the customer, access job detail (like scoping notes), there will be improved scheduling, booking of jobs and more.

Currently, you might be using the REX portal or web forms across our website to request services from SA Power Networks. Soon, you'll be able to use a single portal from your preferred device—be it mobile or desktop—to handle a variety of requests. You'll enjoy a comprehensive overview of each job, from submission to completion, with features like:

  • Real-time job tracking and updates
  • Detailed job information including scoping notes
  • Streamlined scheduling and job booking

This is an extension of the same robust service that has been empowering solar installers in managing Embedded Generation projects, now being tailored for the broader electrician community.

How are we going to do this?

We will implement these improvements in phases. In the coming months, we will be focused on enhancing services like:

  • Permanent Disconnection of Supply (Abolishment)
  • New Service Provision
  • Alterations
  • Tiger Tails
  • Temporary Reconnection/Disconnection
  • Public & Security Lighting
  • Retailer Temporary Isolations
  • Network Access Permits
  • Enquiry to Quote

Additional services will follow, with the rollout schedule guided by your feedback and our ongoing analysis to ensure the portal continues to meet your needs.

Key benefits at a glance

The portal is designed with electrician's day-to-day challenges in mind:

  • Reduced administrative burden: The portal's accessibility on mobile devices and streamlined submission process will mean more time focusing on the job at hand.
  • Quick access to information: Electricians will have immediate access to service statuses, reducing the need to make calls or send emails.
  • Enhanced communication: With real-time updates and notifications, electricians can better plan their schedules and resource allocation.
  • Ease of use: An intuitive design ensures that finding information and completing requests is straightforward and hassle-free with improved booking of the job functionality.
  • Improved security: With the implementation of multi-factor authentication, you can operate with confidence knowing you and your customers’ data is protected. For some, this may mean a change to the way you login in the future.
