The latest in SmartSA user admin requirements

Staying up-to-date with admin requirements is important for all SmartSA users to ensure administrative compliance is upheld. We share reminders on account duplication, customer detail entry and the deployment of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) across SA Power Networks' customer-facing portals.

Account duplication

SmartSA account creation is strictly limited to one user domain per business. SA Power Networks monitors account creation and have seen several instances of duplicate accounts under different user details and domain names which is a direct breach of our Portal Terms and Conditions. Steps are being taken to address multiple user accounts.

If you are experiencing account access issues or compliance blocking, please refrain from creating multiple accounts and contact the New Energy Services on team on 13 12 13 (select option 2) in the first instance.

Customer detail entry

In recent months, it has been noted that a percentage of Small Embedded Generation (SEG) customers are failing to receive copies of the Model Standing Offer (MSO) when an application is submitted in SmartSA. This is occurring because incorrect email addresses are being deliberately entered into the customer detail fields, instead of customer contact information.

It is a legal requirement that SEG customers receive a copy of the MSO and we kindly ask that customer details are accurately entered to ensure customers get a copy of all their relevant terms and conditions.

Deployment of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

SA Power Networks is committed to ensuring the highest level of security and privacy for our customers and partners. As part of this commitment, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) was deployed on all our customer-facing portals from 12th August 2024, requiring users to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource such as an application, online account, or a VPN.

This move is in line with the recommendations from the Critical Infrastructure Centre, which advocates for robust security measures to protect critical infrastructure services.

Effective 12th August, you will be required to update your security settings at your next login. Read the Multi-Factor Authentication Update Guide.
