Emergency outage for critical maintenance - Kangaroo Island
Between Thursday 13 February 8.30pm and Friday 14 February 4.30am
What are we doing?
We’re carrying out critical work to improve power reliability on Kangaroo Island.
Why are we doing this work?
Prolonged dry conditions have caused a build-up of salt on our insulators. With no rain to wash the salt away, morning dew is triggering short power outages or flickering in some areas. Substantial rain would resolve this issue however the work we are doing tonight will also help.
How this affects you
The map below indicates the area that will be without power between 8.30pm and 4.30am while we complete this work. Crews will restore power as soon as safely possible.
The rest of Kangaroo Island will be powered by temporary generation; however, those customers will experience a power interruption of up to 30 minutes at the start of our work when the generators begin operating, and again once we have completed our work and power is restored from the grid.
