Portal update - Network Access Permits launch soon - get involved early!

Portal update Hero website 905 x 428

Our enhanced online portal is evolving to create a seamless and efficient experience for managing connection services. With real-time tracking, improved job management, and a user-friendly interface, it's designed to simplify processes for electricians, civil contractors, utilities, retailers and other industry stakeholders.

We’re excited to announce that Network Access Permits (NAP) will launch Tuesday 18 March, pending final testing. This is the first external-facing service to go live as part of the expanded portal, marking a significant step towards a modern, digital platform for managing connections and working in the vicinity of our infrastructure.

While electricians will still use REX for services like New Service Provision and Alterations (for now), NAPs will be available in the online portal, removing the need to submit them via the current standalone form. By using the portal for NAPs, our stakeholders will get early visibility of the portal’s functionality ahead of other services transitioning from REX to the portal over the coming months.

What you need to know about Network Access Permits

  • NAPs are the first external service in the portal - This marks the beginning of a transition to a fully digital platform.
  • The portal is in beta - We will continue improving based on electrician feedback to ensure it meets industry needs.
  • The first time you access the new portal, you will need to create a new account, which you will be able to link to your existing REX account if you have one. Find out more here.
  • REX remains active for other services (for now) - Electricians will continue using REX for New Service Provision, Alterations, and other services until they transition into the portal in the coming months.

What’s next

Following the launch of Network Access Permits, we’re already working on implementing New Service Provision and Customer Enquiry into the portal soon. Once these services are implemented, we believe the portal will become a key resource for electricians, allowing you to submit and track the progress of all of your minor connection applications with us in one place. These enhancements are part of our long-term vision to improve connection services through digital innovation.
