Award-winning tech project connects SA Power Networks like never before

SA Power Networks Digital & Technology team receiving iTnews award 905 x 428

We're proud to share that our Starlink and Secure Service Edge combined project won Best Energy Project at the 2025 iTnews Benchmark Awards on Thursday 27 March.

The national awards recognise ambition and innovation in IT while celebrating the contribution that technology teams make to their organisation's success.

This year, two of our projects were finalists in the Best Energy Project category, along with projects from Endeavour Energy and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO).

Recognition for our innovative project

By bringing together SpaceX’s Starlink satellite technology with Palo Alto Networks’ Secure Service Edge (SSE) platform, we’ve delivered an Australian-first solution that provides fast, secure access to systems and services—whether our people are in the city, the regions, or out in the field.

Enterprise Portfolio Partner Adrian Jeremiah said the award reflects the power of collaboration.

“This collaboration between the D&T Cyber Security and Infrastructure domains has resulted in the delivery of these new capabilities – the first of its kind for a large enterprise rollout in Australia,” he said.

SSE Project Manager John Lykiardopoulos said the recognition is a proud moment for the team and the customers they support.

“This award recognises our capability to collaborate and deliver nationally recognised programs and projects that support our field service crews and improve the reliable supply of electricity to homes and businesses throughout South Australia. That’s something we’re immensely proud of,” he said.

The project was one of two SA Power Networks finalists in the category. Our other project, Protection of users and faster response, focused on strengthening cyber security and response capability. We’re proud to once again be recognised at the iTnews Benchmark Awards.

Our ongoing commitment

At SA Power Networks, we’re committed to embracing new technologies and innovative solutions that support our people and help us deliver reliable electricity to homes and businesses across South Australia—wherever the job takes us.
