Powering up community connections

We've been busy visiting local events across South Australia in the first three months of the year.
Engaging with our community
From the Kangarilla Community Day and City of West Torrens’ Touch a Truck, through to the Mundulla show and the South-East Field Days, we've been out and about, chatting with you, our customers, and answering your questions. We're committed to being part of our community and these events are a great way for us to connect.
Interactive fun and learning

At each event, we've set up interactive displays that are fun and educational for kids and adults alike. Our EWP bucket photo booth has been a big hit, with visitors dressing up as power workers and taking home memorable photos. Our show-and-tell tables have also been popular, where we've displayed the tools and equipment we use every day. Visitors also love learning about our unique South Australian Stobie poles and we've even given away unique items like 100-year anniversary Stobie stickers and fold-out trucks!

Safety first
We're serious about safety. That's why at these events, we've been handing out safety materials and reflectors, especially to farmers and businesses that have powerlines on their properties. We've also been spreading the word about our Look Up and Live campaign, reminding everyone to stay safe around powerlines. Read more about farm safety and working safely around powerlines.
Saving energy and money
Many of you have been keen to learn about saving energy and lowering your bills. We've been there to answer your questions about Smart Meters, Time of Use tariffs, and solar energy. We've provided practical advice on how to get the most out of these technologies and how they can help you save money and contribute to a greener future. If you want to be more energy efficient and get tips to save money, check out our Be Energy Efficient page.
Inspiring future power workers

We've also been talking about the many career opportunities at SA Power Networks. From apprenticeships and graduate positions to technical roles and customer service positions, we've been sharing our experiences and inspiring the next generation of power workers.
Responding to severe weather
At these events, we've also explained how we respond to severe weather events. We've shown how we use technology like drones, helicopters, and line fault indicators to find and fix faults on our network. One of the great pieces of interest we love showing to kids is an insulator that has been damaged by lightning. This tiny piece of damage shows just how challenging it can be to find faults on the network after a lightning storm. Learn more about severe weather safety including how we manage power outages caused by lightning.
Come and Visit Us
We're not stopping here. We'll be visiting more events throughout the year. So, come and visit us, ask us your questions, and learn more about what we do. We're looking forward to meeting you!
A big thank you to all our staff who have made these events a success. Your hard work and dedication are what power our connections with the community.
