Diverse Data Trial

This project aims to provide better ‘visibility’ of the low voltage network, and distributed energy resources.  We are compiling and using data from a variety of sources, including Smart Meters, Home Energy Management Systems, Smart Street Lights, and the Advanced VPP Grid Integration trial, and feeding it into a new Data and Analytics Platform. We’re testing a range of advanced applications in order to determine the type and volume of data needed to manage the future network.

With all of this data in one place, we will have a far greater understanding of our low voltage network and the interaction of distributed energy, so we can improve how we plan and operate the grid. Our insights will also inform other projects, and broader strategies to support even more solar and new technology, such as the Flexible Exports trial.
