Residential Battery Trial

100 homeowners in Salisbury, South Australia, took part in this trial from 2015-2019 to see if battery storage could save them money, protect them from blackouts and help support the network. Most customers achieved the predicted energy bill savings of more than $450 a year. We also showed we could integrate customer’s renewable generation with battery storage and coordinate those resources during high load days to help manage network demand.

SA Power Networks won the national Innovation Award in 2017 from Energy Networks Australia, for our work on this trial. We also generated important information for the energy industry on the benefits of these new technologies. Read more
