Smart Hot Water Control
This project seeks to demonstrate the value of load shifting – with more appliances (such as water heaters) operating during the day (rather than night), making better use of cheaper solar energy generated during the day.
The project includes 2,400 residential hot water systems, 200 air conditioners and 200 pool pumps, and it will test real-world customer benefits of smart hot water control. We will see how to optimise a range of controllable loads in the home, along with other distributed energy resources such as battery storage.
