Pole inspection program

We have around 647,492 poles across SA, most of which are more than 40 years old.

As with all things, stobie poles do deteriorate, and we have an inspection program to ensure they are inspected and maintained or upgraded when required. 

 

No access poles

We have a program specifically for inspecting poles encased in hard material such as concrete, bitumen or paving. The poles are often on road reserves. 

To inspect the poles thoroughly, we need to dig up to 8cm (80mm) under the ground surface to check for signs of hidden corrosion. We will reinstate the ground surface to a similar condition on the same day.
